GenCon 2013: An Overview of the Experience

Greetings once again InterWebs!!!!! GenCon 2013 has come and gone and once again the World's Second Largest Game Convention (attendance numbers are still coming in but are estimated at 45,000 +) didn't fail to blow me away. I met up with some of my best friends out in Indianapolis once again this year for fun and games and found out this was my 11th straight year attending GenCon. I managed to snap some pictures while I was out there amidst the chaos so sit down and get ready for the first of several posts about my GenCon experiences.

First off an overview look at several of the large gaming halls:

The MASSIVE Pathfinder Society Hall:

The D&D Next 'Experience':

The life-sized Lolth statue:

The Hit of the Show (selling out in 6 minutes):

Some of the various things found around the Convention Halls:

Massive Balloon sculpture that walked around Saturday night:
 Wookiee with a Cello:
BattleTech Battle Booths:

In the Dealer's Hall...............

While I am waiting in line (1 hour 40 minutes) for the Catalyst Game Labs Booth:

 I found some interesting things:
 HUGE New ships for X-Wing!!!!!!!
Fantasy Flight Games Star Wars selection continues to grow:

Every year GenCon holds a card building area where people can build huge structures and then on Saturday night people gather to toss change at the structures with all the change going to the charity of the year:

They raised almost 3,000 for the charity which is awesome!

With that I will leave you for now. Next up will be a report on the miniature side of the experience for me. Thanks for stopping by and taking a look. Take care!
