Painted: Blood Angels Tactical and Devastator Squads

Greetings once again InterWebs!!! I would like to present to you my completed Blood Angel 4th Company Tactical Squad and Devastator Squad. These are the last of the non-Death Company Blood Angel Infantry, leaving just a selection of Heroes (Head Quarter choices) left to paint before I step away from the Blood Angels for a while. Knowing these were last squads I found myself rushing during the paint process and every time I noticed I stepped away from the paint desk for a while; I did not want to rush and ruin the last few squads. Well, here is Tactical Squad deMotto:

Sergeant deMotto is an older Blood Angel miniature (3rd or 4th edition I think) and I just had to use him with this project. He is a little gaudy with his blood drop earring but I think he looks OK in the end.

This squad was built using old out of print metal Death Company miniatures with some minor modifications. Both of my Tactical Squads are made this way; if you would like to see how I did this you can look here. The only miniatures in the squad not made from the old metal miniatures are Sergeant deMotto and the Multi-Melta trooper.

I really like how this miniature turned out, very dynamic I think.

When it comes time to use a Devastator Squad I find my use tending to either anti-horde or anti-tank so I made both options for the squad allowing me to swap miniatures out as needed. I went with Heavy Bolters for the anti-horde and Lascannons for anti-tank. I generally do not mix and match heavy weapons tending to use 4 of the same type of weapon (either Hvy Bolters x4 or Lascannons x4); my outlook is 'if you are going to shoot at something, make sure it is dead'! Well, here is the as yet unnamed Devastator Squad:

Painted: Blood Angel Scouts and Veteran Sergeants

Greetings once again InterWebs!!! It has been a little while since I have talked with you all but I am still here and still finding some time to get into the hobby room. While some of my free time has been planning and purchasing for my next BIG hobby project (Heresy Salamanders) I have still been plugging away at the last of the Blood Angel Infantry. I managed to finish up quite a bit and would like to present to you my Blood Angel Scout Snipers and a couple of Veteran Sergeants.

First off are the Blood Angel Scout Snipers:

Here are a couple of shots of the Camouflage cloaks. I tried for an Autumn-style and it actually shows up better than the pictures show......hmmm.

It is hard to take a picture of these cloaks due to the angles and light glare. I must look into a better solution.

As I was painting the Scouts I was also painting several other models (I like to batch paint) and a few of those miniatures were Veteran Sergeants with Power Weapons (to swap out for normal Sergeants when needed). There are 2 Jump Pack equipped miniatures and a Tactical Sergeant.

Blood Angels---Final Army Infantry PiP

Greetings once again InterWebs!! Just a quick update tonight to share with you all what I have been working on lately.

This is the last of the normal infantry for my Blood Angels 4th Company 'Knights of Baal'. This batch consists of:

1 Devastator Squad with alternate Heavy Bolters or Lascannons depending on which I would like to use.
1 Scout Squad with Sniper Rifles and Heavy Bolter backup.
1 Tactical Squad made out of 'out of print' (OOP) metal Death Company miniatures.
5 Veteran Sergeants for use in various squads (including the Dev and Tac Squads on the table)

I am not sure why I paint in large batches, it must be the way I was exposed to gaming and painting at an early age. I started with 15mm Historical miniatures were you batch painted most of the time due to the number of miniatures involved. I find that painting the Blood Angels in batches like this allows me to ensure that the colors match across the various squads.
