It has been a crazy time lately here in Colorado, my health battles continue with another surgery looming on Thursday this week. I am finding it hard to spend anytime at the painting desk lately but I did manage to sneak in a game of X-Wing over the long Holiday weekend. My buddy Joel and I have played a few games of X-Wing in the past but we had always gone very basic and used just the quick start rules; this time around we both wanted to try the 'full' game with all the added upgrades and rules. I must say the game of X-Wing is awesome, especially with all the added equipment, pilot upgrades, droids, etc. I took a few pictures during the game and here they are:<br />
<br />
Me in my special Imperial Academy T-Shirt. I thought it would help but alas it did not....<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-c63tNB6YgmI/VAYCKYaXYkI/AAAAAAAAFs8/2-tEaiXSnvM/s1600/P9020855.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-c63tNB6YgmI/VAYCKYaXYkI/AAAAAAAAFs8/2-tEaiXSnvM/s1600/P9020855.JPG" height="320" width="233" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The Space Map from <a href="http://mapsofmystery.com/">Maps of Mystery</a>. I have always found his maps to be awesome and love the fact that they fold up and store really well. The maps are double-sided and roughly 2' by 3'. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-DZA9DI_uy8U/VAYCHlFmeaI/AAAAAAAAFsQ/EVAPfnrAfSg/s1600/P9010847.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-DZA9DI_uy8U/VAYCHlFmeaI/AAAAAAAAFsQ/EVAPfnrAfSg/s1600/P9010847.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The forces of the 'good' guys (Ha!).....the Empire!!! It being the first time we used all of the special cards it was interesting to choose which ships to take with what upgrades. I went with 2 named Tie Fighters, a basic Tie Interceptor, and a named and loaded out Tie Bomber. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-u55CW1g_tLg/VAYCGq3OYpI/AAAAAAAAFsE/71s3ksj9tuM/s1600/P9010843.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-u55CW1g_tLg/VAYCGq3OYpI/AAAAAAAAFsE/71s3ksj9tuM/s1600/P9010843.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
The 'bad' guys, i.e. the Rebels choose to attack the Empire with a couple of Rogue Squadron X-Wings, a rookie Y-Wing, and an A-Wing.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-YXRkwNGO7NE/VAYCGr6oyGI/AAAAAAAAFsI/S1X5fcjhN7k/s1600/P9010845.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-YXRkwNGO7NE/VAYCGr6oyGI/AAAAAAAAFsI/S1X5fcjhN7k/s1600/P9010845.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
Boo! The evil Rebel Scum.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-QREO2-lTY8M/VAYCGvXEzVI/AAAAAAAAFsM/WEc9nRCsQz8/s1600/P9010846.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-QREO2-lTY8M/VAYCGvXEzVI/AAAAAAAAFsM/WEc9nRCsQz8/s1600/P9010846.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Yay!! The Forces of Righteousness!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-VJejGWC6Mnw/VAYCIGdri8I/AAAAAAAAFsY/T7xGEpsW2Dg/s1600/P9010849.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-VJejGWC6Mnw/VAYCIGdri8I/AAAAAAAAFsY/T7xGEpsW2Dg/s1600/P9010849.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
During the game I kept running into some difficulties that may have been caused by my Chemo treatments, I kept forgetting to use 'action tokens' and the first turn I had a complete 'brain fart' with the Tie Interceptor's movement. Yes the Tie Interceptor is facing completely backwards.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-3QDYVyxD66c/VAYCIZWXSTI/AAAAAAAAFso/Svn0PLj90KY/s1600/P9010850.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-3QDYVyxD66c/VAYCIZWXSTI/AAAAAAAAFso/Svn0PLj90KY/s1600/P9010850.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
The game continued on with the Rebels gaining the upper hand fairly early on despite their ships hitting every single asteroid at least once.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-RwalR9EV45E/VAYCIh-npOI/AAAAAAAAFsg/a5y9gfUu2z0/s1600/P9010851.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-RwalR9EV45E/VAYCIh-npOI/AAAAAAAAFsg/a5y9gfUu2z0/s1600/P9010851.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ix0pJTKd-Gk/VAYCJncqyTI/AAAAAAAAFsw/FqTEppFYIGE/s1600/P9010853.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ix0pJTKd-Gk/VAYCJncqyTI/AAAAAAAAFsw/FqTEppFYIGE/s1600/P9010853.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-tcQy2F6cf0k/VAYCKE7YfxI/AAAAAAAAFs4/HBZhnVFIFrE/s1600/P9010854.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-tcQy2F6cf0k/VAYCKE7YfxI/AAAAAAAAFs4/HBZhnVFIFrE/s1600/P9010854.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
At the end of the day the Rebel Scum managed to drive off the forces of the Empire killing all but a lone Tie Fighter who flew back to report the Rebel presence in the area. I LOVE Star Wars gaming in all forms and I really enjoy how X-Wing captures the look and feel of spaceship dogfighting in Star Wars. I have to really work out a way to use this game when I run Star Wars Role Playing Games (I have written over 15 SWRPG modules) as I think it really captures the experience. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I can see how involved list building can get with this game and I am sure there is all sorts of Synergy between certain cards/ships and other cards/ships. I am just a casual player but I am sure there are those out there that really get in depth with their lists. For now I will just enjoy the game and leave the competitive side to others. Thanks for stopping by and taking a look! Take care!</div>

I had the chance yesterday to play the brand new <a href="http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/edge_minisite.asp?eidm=261&enmi=Warhammer%2040,000:%20Conquest">40k Conquest</a> 'Living Card Game' from Fantasy Flight Games and I thought I would share my initial thoughts.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-3hSJ2h-ItCI/U_pEJpt8S6I/AAAAAAAAFq0/fH3FjCFiDdY/s1600/box%2Bart%2Bconquest.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-3hSJ2h-ItCI/U_pEJpt8S6I/AAAAAAAAFq0/fH3FjCFiDdY/s1600/box%2Bart%2Bconquest.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
The game is a 2 player 'deck building' type of game which is not something I usually get into, however this was quite easy and fun to play. Everything you need is included in the box so you don't have to go out and buy booster packs looking for that 'rare' card.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-2phB1AHbAnM/U_pGDs_57PI/AAAAAAAAFq8/NpMIxF-rZdk/s1600/P8230844.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-2phB1AHbAnM/U_pGDs_57PI/AAAAAAAAFq8/NpMIxF-rZdk/s1600/P8230844.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
The Game includes cards for the following races: Space Marines, Imperial Guard (Astra Millitum or something like that), Chaos, Eldar, Dark Eldar, Tau, and Orks. With these cards you build your deck and set forth to conquer the planetary system that is the goal of the game. Here are some various in game photos showing just some of the cards in play:<br />
<br />
Chaos (my first attempt at the game):<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-yTZnrvU2bIk/U_pGYktHAvI/AAAAAAAAFrE/RwoPohoS1hg/s1600/P8230843.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-yTZnrvU2bIk/U_pGYktHAvI/AAAAAAAAFrE/RwoPohoS1hg/s1600/P8230843.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
Chaos Warlord and Chaos Fanatics attacking a planet:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-x2YrnqTrM-o/U_pGY0nck_I/AAAAAAAAFrM/NUVhbZFSqMA/s1600/P8230845.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-x2YrnqTrM-o/U_pGY0nck_I/AAAAAAAAFrM/NUVhbZFSqMA/s1600/P8230845.JPG" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
Chaos troops backed up by a Black Legion Heldrake (freaking nasty card):<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ZABGgjhixqE/U_pGYp6p4YI/AAAAAAAAFrI/JrKKpR1ypvg/s1600/P8230846.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ZABGgjhixqE/U_pGYp6p4YI/AAAAAAAAFrI/JrKKpR1ypvg/s1600/P8230846.JPG" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
I lost the first game by having my Warlord killed out from under me during a planetary assault. This is one of the ways to win/lose the game. The time taken to play this game in minimal so my friend Joel and I decided to try another game with different races involved. So I set out to give the Orks a try:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-OAm-OTtngN8/U_pHcr_0KjI/AAAAAAAAFrc/4X4LjdxWv_0/s1600/P8230847.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-OAm-OTtngN8/U_pHcr_0KjI/AAAAAAAAFrc/4X4LjdxWv_0/s1600/P8230847.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-F4YL9S3SCs4/U_pHci4dgBI/AAAAAAAAFrk/UZtY8wiAMWI/s1600/P8230848.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-F4YL9S3SCs4/U_pHci4dgBI/AAAAAAAAFrk/UZtY8wiAMWI/s1600/P8230848.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
Discard pile, snotling tokens, and captured planets:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-5FqFBYPLgrE/U_pHcnrvkeI/AAAAAAAAFrg/Q8O1KYe4Bzo/s1600/P8230849.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-5FqFBYPLgrE/U_pHcnrvkeI/AAAAAAAAFrg/Q8O1KYe4Bzo/s1600/P8230849.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
This picture shows a rather tense time of the game as Joel and his Tau forces tried to stop the 'green tide' of the Orks but it was not meant to be. This game actually took less time than the first and we were done with this game in about 1/2 hour.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-VRCpyuBA0wI/U_pHdQkLroI/AAAAAAAAFrs/rmT1HiOT1vc/s1600/P8230850.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-VRCpyuBA0wI/U_pHdQkLroI/AAAAAAAAFrs/rmT1HiOT1vc/s1600/P8230850.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I enjoyed this game and thought it was something that could be played quickly with minimal setup and rues instruction needed. I liked the fact that everything you needed to play was in the box. I loved the artwork on the cards; it was nice to see some new artwork for 40k.<br />
<br />
I can see Fantasy Flight Games having an easy time supporting this game with future supplements and expansions. The only thing I could complain about is the lack of planets included in the base game, you need to use 7 of the included 10 planets per game and that means you will be seeing the same planets quite often in your games.<br />
<br />
All in all I had a lot of fun playing this and would recommend it to fans of 40k. It is an easy game to take with you and doesn't really need a large space to play, perfect for the travelling 40k player.<br />
<br />

It has been a little while since the last post but I am still here; still dealing with some serious medical issues. I have been able to get a little painting in when I can and I am currently working on the Space Hulk miniatures for a friend. I would like to share some paint in progress shots of what I have so far.<br />
<br />
<br />
The group of Terminators so far:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I still have quite a bit of work to do on these but it is nice to paint something again after several months away from painting. Thanks for stopping by and taking a look. It has been a long time since my last post and I can only blame it on my ongoing health battles. I managed to actually get a little game time in with my good friend <a href="http://mordian7th.blogspot.com/">Mordian7th</a> over the 4th of July holiday. It has been a tradition for the two of us to play a game of 40k on the 4th of July holiday and I was concerned we might miss it this year. As it turned out we were able to get together and decided we would try out the new edition of the rules while playing with our Horus Heresy armies. I went with my Salamanders and Mordian7th went with his Thousand Sons. It was nice to get out of the house that didn't involve a trip to the hospital or a doctor and I must say I had some much needed fun.<br />
<br />
Mordian7th and I decided to play a 1500pt game to keep it simple as we adjusted to the new rules. Here is my 1500pt Heresy-era Salamanders army list:<br />
<span style="font-size: x-small;"><b>HQ:</b> </span><br />
<span style="font-size: x-small;">Praetor M’tonga Chaga’st </span><br />
<span style="font-size: x-small;">Master Crafted Thunder Hammer, Iron Halo, Stormshield, Mantle of the Elder Drake, Digi-Lasers</span><br />
<span style="font-size: x-small;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: x-small;">Epistolary U’uka Obataiye (Librarian lvl 2)</span><br />

The game was played on some of Mordian7th's new urban terrain tiles (from some random kickstarter he backed) which I thought looked stunning. Here are some pictures of the table before the armies rolled onto it:<br />

There are so many little details printed on the tiles like crushed soda cans, bloody footprints, leaves, trash, etc. I really thought these tiles added a lot to the look of the game!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Here are some pictures of the initial setup of the armies:<br />
<br />
1k Sons Assault Squad waiting to pounce:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-g4GVYgSLn1g/U7hkbiBS7aI/AAAAAAAAFnM/RNp-pA8NjSo/s1600/P7040847.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-g4GVYgSLn1g/U7hkbiBS7aI/AAAAAAAAFnM/RNp-pA8NjSo/s1600/P7040847.JPG" height="298" width="400" /></a></div>
Lots of 1k Sons hunkered down behind a Skyshield Platform:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-dnswCmBcKPQ/U7hkbl5-3pI/AAAAAAAAFnQ/9zKH-ZPk9tg/s1600/P7040848.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-dnswCmBcKPQ/U7hkbl5-3pI/AAAAAAAAFnQ/9zKH-ZPk9tg/s1600/P7040848.JPG" height="400" width="298" /></a></div>
Salamander Tactical Squad with Praetor holding an objective:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-70DNoie4_50/U7hkbtx8AKI/AAAAAAAAFnI/fmZcckXKRMM/s1600/P7040849.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-70DNoie4_50/U7hkbtx8AKI/AAAAAAAAFnI/fmZcckXKRMM/s1600/P7040849.JPG" height="400" width="298" /></a></div>
Terminators ready to roll down the street to unleash Hell on the 1k Sons.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Odxql7DUNjk/U7hkceBuAZI/AAAAAAAAFnc/no-76pCRw2Y/s1600/P7040850.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Odxql7DUNjk/U7hkceBuAZI/AAAAAAAAFnc/no-76pCRw2Y/s1600/P7040850.JPG" height="298" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
The game started with the Salamanders going first and the mad rush to grab tactical objectives (the orange d6 dice scattered around the table) was on. I was concerned about the 3 Landspeeders and 2 Predators the 1k Sons brought to the table but the Salamanders stayed strong in the face of such firepower.<br />
<br />
Salamander Tactical Support Squad and Librarian rushing forward to kill the 1k Sons Scorpious Whirlwind Launcher which is just nasty and had to die quickly:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-aIG-I4V2vGg/U7hoofbF8UI/AAAAAAAAFns/8zXykI-cKWg/s1600/P7040851.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-aIG-I4V2vGg/U7hoofbF8UI/AAAAAAAAFns/8zXykI-cKWg/s1600/P7040851.JPG" height="400" width="298" /></a></div>
The 1k Sons milling around in the backfield. I am glad they milled around back there instead of pressing forward with the Predators:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-X5EOqgF9i7Y/U7hooitF0FI/AAAAAAAAFn0/RNTWICdqP60/s1600/P7040852.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-X5EOqgF9i7Y/U7hooitF0FI/AAAAAAAAFn0/RNTWICdqP60/s1600/P7040852.JPG" height="298" width="400" /></a></div>
The 1k Sons Assault Squad moves to capture an objective they needed (orange d6 dice):<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-NY7K6w0Ho4c/U7hool59AKI/AAAAAAAAFnw/lhiW8l128Sw/s1600/P7040853.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-NY7K6w0Ho4c/U7hool59AKI/AAAAAAAAFnw/lhiW8l128Sw/s1600/P7040853.JPG" height="298" width="400" /></a></div>
The mad rush of the Tactical Support Squad comes up just short as their Rhino Transport is disabled. It was time to make a dash for it on foot:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-bm1A14r5ILc/U7hopas3CwI/AAAAAAAAFn8/wKC6zS5ZCPo/s1600/P7040854.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-bm1A14r5ILc/U7hopas3CwI/AAAAAAAAFn8/wKC6zS5ZCPo/s1600/P7040854.JPG" height="298" width="400" /></a></div>
1k Sons Landspeeders started to drop from orbit (Deep Strike) and it was not looking good for the other Rhino Transport:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-VluO_G07O5c/U7hophwT06I/AAAAAAAAFoE/RVr0cn1Su8U/s1600/P7040855.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-VluO_G07O5c/U7hophwT06I/AAAAAAAAFoE/RVr0cn1Su8U/s1600/P7040855.JPG" height="298" width="400" /></a></div>
The Tactical Support Squad still trying to kill the 1k Sons Scorpious Launcher while trying to avoid getting blown to bits by its return fire:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-q19hN3_OVlE/U7hop0n27PI/AAAAAAAAFoI/-Ty83oVf5Mw/s1600/P7040856.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-q19hN3_OVlE/U7hop0n27PI/AAAAAAAAFoI/-Ty83oVf5Mw/s1600/P7040856.JPG" height="298" width="400" /></a></div>
1k Sons rushing to protect the flank with the Scorpious Launcher and deal with the threatening Salamanders:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-BLRAp1hu7Yk/U7hoqDYK7pI/AAAAAAAAFoM/XEbZH0YEVRo/s1600/P7040857.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-BLRAp1hu7Yk/U7hoqDYK7pI/AAAAAAAAFoM/XEbZH0YEVRo/s1600/P7040857.JPG" height="298" width="400" /></a></div>
Poor 1k Sons Assault Squad couldn't quite make it into the building to assault the waiting Salamanders, this left them sitting all alone in the middle of the street facing down a lot of Salamander bolters:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-N93ho8PHeE4/U7ho-8LcubI/AAAAAAAAFok/PwRANzaURis/s1600/P7040858.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-N93ho8PHeE4/U7ho-8LcubI/AAAAAAAAFok/PwRANzaURis/s1600/P7040858.JPG" height="298" width="400" /></a></div>
The 1k Sons move some firepower forward to press an assault on the Salamanders:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Huc5Cr4kdow/U7ho_KLHwdI/AAAAAAAAFos/CBOtdry58TE/s1600/P7040859.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Huc5Cr4kdow/U7ho_KLHwdI/AAAAAAAAFos/CBOtdry58TE/s1600/P7040859.JPG" height="298" width="400" /></a></div>
The Salamanders respond with a charge from their Legion Terminators:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-LlImkiuDC0s/U7ho_NMV6OI/AAAAAAAAFoo/UBG6wC0qjeY/s1600/P7040860.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-LlImkiuDC0s/U7ho_NMV6OI/AAAAAAAAFoo/UBG6wC0qjeY/s1600/P7040860.JPG" height="298" width="400" /></a></div>
The result of the Salamander charge:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-37djNGNwtYc/U7ho_1KzHJI/AAAAAAAAFo0/p-Mxu6Xkrwc/s1600/P7040862.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-37djNGNwtYc/U7ho_1KzHJI/AAAAAAAAFo0/p-Mxu6Xkrwc/s1600/P7040862.JPG" height="298" width="400" /></a></div>
The result of the Salamander Tactical Squad unleashing 'Fury of the Legion' on the 1k Sons Assault Squad:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-1iJV_d64rPY/U7hpAeeVNjI/AAAAAAAAFpA/Mv1Tx8qzIcQ/s1600/P7040863.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-1iJV_d64rPY/U7hpAeeVNjI/AAAAAAAAFpA/Mv1Tx8qzIcQ/s1600/P7040863.JPG" height="298" width="400" /></a></div>
Salamander Terminators now moving onto the 1k Sons Predator. The Salamanders having the 'move through cover' special rule allowed them to assault through all kinds of terrain catching the 1k Sons flat footed at times:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-4fs7-NB-klI/U7hpAXv1I5I/AAAAAAAAFpE/CusMLLdYofU/s1600/P7040864.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-4fs7-NB-klI/U7hpAXv1I5I/AAAAAAAAFpE/CusMLLdYofU/s1600/P7040864.JPG" height="298" width="400" /></a></div>
The Salamander Terminators continue on after destroying the 1k Sons Predator:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-3VJNzCOpA4M/U7hpAmuye3I/AAAAAAAAFpI/qTSowXcrXl4/s1600/P7040865.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-3VJNzCOpA4M/U7hpAmuye3I/AAAAAAAAFpI/qTSowXcrXl4/s1600/P7040865.JPG" height="298" width="400" /></a></div>
The last of the Tactical Support Squad and the Librarian finally managed to disable the Scorpious Launcher only to get washed off the table next turn by the 1k Sons 'Fury of the Legion' gunfire:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-qOfOzRAj4ns/U7hpBEGPC3I/AAAAAAAAFpU/cQ3PBSihaGs/s1600/P7040866.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-qOfOzRAj4ns/U7hpBEGPC3I/AAAAAAAAFpU/cQ3PBSihaGs/s1600/P7040866.JPG" height="298" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
At this point it was getting awfully hot up in the game loft and it was the end of Turn 5 anyway so Mordian7th and I decided to call it a game; we tallied up our victory points and the Salamanders came out ahead 11-8. Both Mordian7th and I really enjoyed our first taste of 7th Edition; I really enjoyed the Tactical Objective cards which I thought gave the game a 'real feel' as units were scurrying around the table top trying to achieve vital objectives all game (instead of the mad rush at the end of the game). I also enjoyed the Psychic Phase being its own phase instead of trying to remember which game phase the different types of psychic powers went off in (previous editions). I found vehicles to be slightly more durable but everything still dies to a Lascannon. All in all I really found the game entertaining with never a dull moment as my troops had to scramble to achieve vital objectives all the time.<br />

Just a brief update on my Heresy-era Salamanders, I managed to get some build time in on a Tactical Support Squad armed with Flamers. I am still working on some green stuff in areas among other things on the minis but I thought I would share the WiP shots so far.<br />
<br />
Basic assembly of the Mk IV armor for the 10-man squad:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-J3rplD1FxjY/UzN6HN0PIhI/AAAAAAAAFiY/DTqLMIyVc3A/s1600/P3230843.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-J3rplD1FxjY/UzN6HN0PIhI/AAAAAAAAFiY/DTqLMIyVc3A/s1600/P3230843.JPG" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Basic assembly of the Sergeant. I used a Spell Crow Miniatures torso:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-cFgiXP0F49o/UzN6LNEpFyI/AAAAAAAAFio/JdbQ2V1i7Co/s1600/P3230844.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-cFgiXP0F49o/UzN6LNEpFyI/AAAAAAAAFio/JdbQ2V1i7Co/s1600/P3230844.JPG" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Legio XVIII (Salamanders) are known as all being master artisans when it comes to their equipment and they often customize their own weapons. I decided to use some various different styles of flamer and also add a little customization to the flamers as well. Here is a look at the gathering of bits and brainstorming process:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-SK-vhfhGgkg/UzN6K-pkVnI/AAAAAAAAFig/zNr0VlAHAz4/s1600/P3230845.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-SK-vhfhGgkg/UzN6K-pkVnI/AAAAAAAAFig/zNr0VlAHAz4/s1600/P3230845.JPG" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Here are 5 of the flamers after customization:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-JsYOcmsjuN4/UzN6LbVJs1I/AAAAAAAAFik/AedugRf7LLY/s1600/P3230846.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-JsYOcmsjuN4/UzN6LbVJs1I/AAAAAAAAFik/AedugRf7LLY/s1600/P3230846.JPG" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Here are a couple of looks at the current state of the squad. Still working on fetish ropes and blending the scales in a bit more.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-WHEJFixFXlw/UzN6Ogn3Y2I/AAAAAAAAFi4/cGzFDtXWxeU/s1600/P3260847.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-WHEJFixFXlw/UzN6Ogn3Y2I/AAAAAAAAFi4/cGzFDtXWxeU/s1600/P3260847.JPG" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-xRG_Fek9hFc/UzN6Pi2hDvI/AAAAAAAAFjA/UbHMhJv29w4/s1600/P3260848.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-xRG_Fek9hFc/UzN6Pi2hDvI/AAAAAAAAFjA/UbHMhJv29w4/s1600/P3260848.JPG" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-VXTQGPDpwWA/UzN6Pi_7ElI/AAAAAAAAFjE/RWNc5laHphY/s1600/P3260849.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-VXTQGPDpwWA/UzN6Pi_7ElI/AAAAAAAAFjE/RWNc5laHphY/s1600/P3260849.JPG" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
The (as yet unnamed) Sergeant which still needs a bit more work. I am trying to figure out a nice crest for his helmet.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ewWG42i50K8/UzN6Q_fWMGI/AAAAAAAAFjQ/7pLY7t-FJjY/s1600/P3260850.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ewWG42i50K8/UzN6Q_fWMGI/AAAAAAAAFjQ/7pLY7t-FJjY/s1600/P3260850.JPG" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
The thought of these 10-guys rolling around with their flamers (which are higher strength than all the other legions) really appeals to me. I don't think this unit will get charged in an assault what with them all having nasty overwatch weapons, of course there are only 10 guys so they will get shot off the table fairly easily.<br />
<br />

The health struggles continue but I did manage to get some painting in. Having a bunch of time off due to illness does allow me to get small patches of painting done. Here is the latest coming off the painting desk: Mk IV Salamander Shoulder Pads.<br />

While they are painted I am not able to seal them due to the weather, Spring time in Colorado is a total mixture of snow, rain, and sun with today being snow. These 47 shoulder pads finish up my Stage 1 Horus Heresy Salamanders build. Here are some other shots of the Mk IV shoulder pads.<br />

<br />
With the first part of my Heresy-era Salamanders all done and Forge World still not coming out with anything for the Salamanders it is time to look and see what I can throw together for the Salamanders next. I know I have a 5-man Honor Squad, a 10-man Flamer tactical support squad, a 5-man Plasmagun tactical support squad, a Heresy-era Predator, a Vindicator with laser destroyer array (Sabre Tank Hunter), and a Falchion (Shadow Sword) that will be HEAVILY converted all waiting for my attention. I might even throw together a Legion Champion miniature if I can find a Paragon Blade I like.<br />
<br />

It has been a really tough few days for me health-wise and in between doctors visits and being laid out on the bed I did manage to stitch together enough paint time to finish Urtzi Malevolus. I had to ask a friend if he looked 'correct' because I don't trust my eyes so much at this point. Well enough rambling, here is the Despoiler of Mars!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-tK5dihGl4UA/UyjoE0pmaII/AAAAAAAAFfU/7zGW19DUaaI/s1600/P3180842.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-tK5dihGl4UA/UyjoE0pmaII/AAAAAAAAFfU/7zGW19DUaaI/s1600/P3180842.JPG" height="400" width="298" /></a></div>
<br />
I love the three glowing eyes, just like the picture from GW.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
A look at the power generator for the three large mechandenrites:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-XmrPX5rYZXc/UyjoHmYNEmI/AAAAAAAAFgY/_XNCbST_2xE/s1600/P3180851.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-XmrPX5rYZXc/UyjoHmYNEmI/AAAAAAAAFgY/_XNCbST_2xE/s1600/P3180851.JPG" height="400" width="298" /></a></div>
<br />
So many gears and moving parts that are mere picometers from his hood. I think he has an entire subroutine devoted to keeping his hood out of the moving parts behind him.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-JweFlnRdcBI/UyjoIOUx7zI/AAAAAAAAFgc/GxrOSo-bW1o/s1600/P3180852.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-JweFlnRdcBI/UyjoIOUx7zI/AAAAAAAAFgc/GxrOSo-bW1o/s1600/P3180852.JPG" height="400" width="298" /></a></div>
<br />
This is going to be a challenge to pack and move for gaming use. He really has a large 'footprint'.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-efDV2_9CrtQ/UyjoITdotbI/AAAAAAAAFgs/9GrvpqG2oiI/s1600/P3180853.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-efDV2_9CrtQ/UyjoITdotbI/AAAAAAAAFgs/9GrvpqG2oiI/s1600/P3180853.JPG" height="400" width="298" /></a></div>
<br />
I must say I really enjoyed painting this guy up even though I felt so ill during the process. I may just have to do some more Dark Mechanicus in the future. For now the Despoiler of Mars will await further reinforcements while I contemplate building him the Kaban Machine.<br />
<br />
Thanks for stopping by and taking a look! Take care! Comments are always more than welcome! I would love to hear your thoughts about good old Urtzi Malevolus! I will leave you all with the picture that inspired this build:<br />

As a break from the Heresy Salamanders I thought I would work on something I can use with my next Heresy-era army; I am going to have some Dark Mechanicum allies to go with a traitor legion. I wanted to start off with a nice HQ choice and there is none better fluff-wise (in my opinion) than.......<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-uDuV2RBns8s/UyO00hS6lXI/AAAAAAAAFcQ/x5Ibv5E6Gwg/s1600/180px-Urzi_Malevolus_-_Despoiler_of_Mars.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-uDuV2RBns8s/UyO00hS6lXI/AAAAAAAAFcQ/x5Ibv5E6Gwg/s1600/180px-Urzi_Malevolus_-_Despoiler_of_Mars.jpg" height="400" width="256" /></a></div>
<br />
Urtzi Malevolus, Despoiler of Mars<br />
Few names cause more division amongst the Priesthood of Mars than that of Urtzi Malevolus. It was Malevolus who allowed the abomination of the Kaban Machine to achieve full sentience. It was Malevolus who crafted the Tactical Dreadnought Armor that the Warmaster Horus wore throughout the Siege of Terra.It was Malevolus who railed against the Treaty of Mars and obliterated the wondrous forges of Mondus Occulum. But the Priests of the Mechanicus consider themselves beyond petty concerns and outrages. What is valued is knowledge and Urtzi Malevolus has millennia of unique and precious data. His treacherous actions are scrutinised for glimpses of this lore. The Kaban Machine is almost deified by the Legio Cybernetica. TheWarmaster’s armor was a fantastic and an unrivalled achievement in plasteel and ceramite. And as for Mondus Occulum… Well only the Omnissiah is perfect.Unlike the traitorous Fabricator General Kelbor Hal, Malevolus was not killed outright at the end of the Horus Heresy.Wounded and allowing the loyalists to believe him slain, Malevolus made his way to the distant Forge World of Godhammer. This nascent machine world was of alien origin and although the Mechanicum now used it as their own, Malevolus knew that deep with its vaults lay a secret he had not shared with even his fellow conspirators.<br />
<br />
I ordered up a nice resin kit from <a href="http://www.blightwheelminiatures.com/crazy-ivan">Blight Wheel Miniatures</a> and then set to work on the assembly of the Despoiler of Mars:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
No self respecting Tech Priest of Mars would be caught without mechandenrites, so I decided to make some. I personally like the look of the snaking mechandenrite so I wanted to make mine very pliable. I decided to use very thin wire (20 gauge) and a thinner wire (28 gauge) wrapped around it. This gave me a very flexible cable to base the mechandenrite on. Here is a shot of the initial wire wrap:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-H-VXGzv1LbI/UyO7IhWjmDI/AAAAAAAAFdY/1YXxGsEBUso/s1600/P3140850.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-H-VXGzv1LbI/UyO7IhWjmDI/AAAAAAAAFdY/1YXxGsEBUso/s1600/P3140850.JPG" height="298" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
The final assembly of Urtzi Malevolus with all of his mechandenrites:<br />

I think the Despoiler of Mars turned out quite well. I am pleased with how all of his various mechandenrites actually add to the model and definitely help it look more like the GW artwork. Tomorrow I should have some time to paint him up. Thanks for stopping by and taking a look! Take care! I would love to hear what you think about Urtzi Malevolus.Davidhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17982214265905429171noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7872929153275427623.post-15338595815104690692014-03-09T16:29:00.004-06:002014-03-09T16:29:41.703-06:00Painted: Apocalypse Survivors from Wargames FactoryGreetings once again InterWebs!!! It has been a little while since my last post so I thought I would share with you all what I have been up to lately. I have some friends that are casual gamers but they do really love their post-apocalyptic and zombie survivor games, so as a gift to them for being such awesome people I painted up the newish Apocalypse Survivors from <a href="http://wargamesfactory.com/">Wargame Factory</a>. I picked up one box of <a href="http://wargamesfactory.com/webstore/dark-futures/apocalypse-survivors-women">the wome</a>n and one box of <a href="http://wargamesfactory.com/webstore/dark-futures/apocalypse-survivors-men">the men</a> which came to a total of 60 miniatures for the low cost of $36.00 (GenCon special), quite the deal I must say! The boxes come with 3 identical sprues of models and a 4th sprue of optional arm/weapon setups for some of the miniatures and a whole mess of guns and equipment options.<br />
<br />
Here is the first set of miniatures which will be headed to West Virginia:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-G01rmXbAGgo/UxzoWQyhCkI/AAAAAAAAFbE/AWMePSyOMNA/s1600/P3090844.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-G01rmXbAGgo/UxzoWQyhCkI/AAAAAAAAFbE/AWMePSyOMNA/s1600/P3090844.JPG" height="298" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-kbgdMfMC61w/UxzoWQylo3I/AAAAAAAAFbA/XpZ01his33U/s1600/P3090845.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-kbgdMfMC61w/UxzoWQylo3I/AAAAAAAAFbA/XpZ01his33U/s1600/P3090845.JPG" height="298" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Here is the second set of miniatures which will be headed to Ohio:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-sMz61TuyB3g/UxzopMl2GaI/AAAAAAAAFbQ/nOfJrGV1gbI/s1600/P3090846.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-sMz61TuyB3g/UxzopMl2GaI/AAAAAAAAFbQ/nOfJrGV1gbI/s1600/P3090846.JPG" height="298" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/--BKCBU5o2WE/UxzopbYXhcI/AAAAAAAAFbU/OUSYXnsNAYc/s1600/P3090847.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/--BKCBU5o2WE/UxzopbYXhcI/AAAAAAAAFbU/OUSYXnsNAYc/s1600/P3090847.JPG" height="298" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
The third set of miniatures which will probably be staying here in Colorado:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-xTmqfpeNcy8/Uxzo8klQvwI/AAAAAAAAFbk/XS_D-jB_984/s1600/P3090848.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-xTmqfpeNcy8/Uxzo8klQvwI/AAAAAAAAFbk/XS_D-jB_984/s1600/P3090848.JPG" height="298" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-4aDAULmnCcw/Uxzo8kU18MI/AAAAAAAAFbg/8Dc-IMqx15g/s1600/P3090849.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-4aDAULmnCcw/Uxzo8kU18MI/AAAAAAAAFbg/8Dc-IMqx15g/s1600/P3090849.JPG" height="298" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
These miniatures were a lot of fun to paint and I am sure they will bring joy to their new owners (at least I hope!). There was a fair bit of left over bits (guns, pouches, etc.) that were not used with this project but will be used in a future project. For under $25.00 for a box of 30 miniatures (and a ton of bits) I would call this set a steal! I did not stress on making the 3 sets of miniatures to different because I knew they were going to different homes and it helped the painting process. My personal favorite has to be the little girl in her pink dress, white hair ribbon, and UZI!<br />
<br />
Thanks for stopping by and taking a look! Now that this little gift project is done I can get back to building and painting Heresy-era Salamanders and collecting bits/models for my Heresy-era Iron Warriors. Take care!Davidhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17982214265905429171noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7872929153275427623.post-53351436621607307392014-02-02T09:39:00.001-07:002014-02-02T09:42:39.235-07:00Games Workshop's World of Battle: A look back at the history of Games Workshops products and proof of SQUATSGreetings once again InterWebs!!!! Here is the last of my reviews of Games Workshop's World of Battle in Memphis, TN. This time I would like to share with you one of the coolest things I have seen at a Games Workshop store.....the cases of remembrance! Along the back hall of the venue there were several large glass display cases full of old (really old!) Games Workshop products from way back in the day. Here are some looks back into the past:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-pC-XzuCMHXI/Uu5swJVCQXI/AAAAAAAAFY8/fbWaaIFeSa4/s1600/P1170989.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-pC-XzuCMHXI/Uu5swJVCQXI/AAAAAAAAFY8/fbWaaIFeSa4/s1600/P1170989.JPG" height="298" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
So many 2nd and 3rd edition items of which I owned quite a few:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-WUGgG-UmBPs/Uu5swNYfGiI/AAAAAAAAFY4/VD6txijqH9o/s1600/P1170990.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-WUGgG-UmBPs/Uu5swNYfGiI/AAAAAAAAFY4/VD6txijqH9o/s1600/P1170990.JPG" height="640" width="478" /></a></div>
<br />
The original Rhino box set which was 3 Rhinos for $20.00 of I remember those days! There is also the Land Raider Box Set behind which was 2 tanks if I remember correctly.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-1H_4z_ImEr8/Uu5swMzd2rI/AAAAAAAAFY0/DEFfEkTKyAs/s1600/P1170991.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-1H_4z_ImEr8/Uu5swMzd2rI/AAAAAAAAFY0/DEFfEkTKyAs/s1600/P1170991.JPG" height="298" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
The original Blood Angel army from the Angels of Death Codex:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-e2YKs09aIcw/Uu5sxY9d94I/AAAAAAAAFZE/W4uzABGOh5g/s1600/P1170992.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-e2YKs09aIcw/Uu5sxY9d94I/AAAAAAAAFZE/W4uzABGOh5g/s1600/P1170992.JPG" height="298" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
The original Space Wolf army from the 2nd edition codex:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-67mQx3YtKuY/Uu5sxU3OYiI/AAAAAAAAFZc/B42imYhAoFg/s1600/P1170993.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-67mQx3YtKuY/Uu5sxU3OYiI/AAAAAAAAFZc/B42imYhAoFg/s1600/P1170993.JPG" height="298" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
There was even some Fantasy, the original Chaos army from Realm of Chaos:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-OREZ6H-2kWA/Uu5sxhS8SGI/AAAAAAAAFZQ/C4Zm5WuWLwk/s1600/P1170994.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-OREZ6H-2kWA/Uu5sxhS8SGI/AAAAAAAAFZQ/C4Zm5WuWLwk/s1600/P1170994.JPG" height="298" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
The Fantasy cases which were not as stuffed full of items as the 40k cases:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-SW7evjdi8-Y/Uu5syGsKzGI/AAAAAAAAFZY/IM2hZBvTUTQ/s1600/P1170995.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-SW7evjdi8-Y/Uu5syGsKzGI/AAAAAAAAFZY/IM2hZBvTUTQ/s1600/P1170995.JPG" height="298" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Nice to see an old Horus Heresy boardgame from way back before Forge World got a hold of the Heresy. I never got a chance to play it but it was nice to see they still had the foundation game for the Heresy:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ttFkhdKX9kU/Uu5sylVwEuI/AAAAAAAAFZw/khus8heX2vY/s1600/P1170996.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ttFkhdKX9kU/Uu5sylVwEuI/AAAAAAAAFZw/khus8heX2vY/s1600/P1170996.JPG" height="298" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Some of the old Terrain sets were in the cases as well like the Industrial Battleground (aka Necromunda terrain):<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-g4vjIX0WzaA/Uu5szIf1c2I/AAAAAAAAFZo/Cq5M6q8Ehsk/s1600/P1170997.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-g4vjIX0WzaA/Uu5szIf1c2I/AAAAAAAAFZo/Cq5M6q8Ehsk/s1600/P1170997.JPG" height="298" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
The old Epic games but sadly not Titanicus:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Jw-xiGtu_V0/Uu5wzg43nRI/AAAAAAAAFag/D5JS1tOLySw/s1600/History+(9).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Jw-xiGtu_V0/Uu5wzg43nRI/AAAAAAAAFag/D5JS1tOLySw/s1600/History+(9).JPG" height="298" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
The original Space Hulk with all of its expansions! I still have these except the minis. I have never seen the 'Space Marine Assault' box before so that was kind of cool! No idea what it is though.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-0uzPmpMaABo/Uu5wyC5USFI/AAAAAAAAFaE/HGANa4_7TwY/s1600/History+(11).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-0uzPmpMaABo/Uu5wyC5USFI/AAAAAAAAFaE/HGANa4_7TwY/s1600/History+(11).JPG" height="239" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Great game for Ork players, loved the easy vehicle rules but overall it could not hold up to Necromunda:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-tdf5_ix05Xs/Uu5wyLkVcJI/AAAAAAAAFaA/gOcPn1QRNGw/s1600/History+(12).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-tdf5_ix05Xs/Uu5wyLkVcJI/AAAAAAAAFaA/gOcPn1QRNGw/s1600/History+(12).JPG" height="239" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Lots of cool little box sets from back in the day including another set I had not ever seen. The Terminators & Tyranids box set was new to me.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-9cCmSsHDeN8/Uu5wyAjDM_I/AAAAAAAAFaI/NCkAWZMyPHw/s1600/History+(15).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-9cCmSsHDeN8/Uu5wyAjDM_I/AAAAAAAAFaI/NCkAWZMyPHw/s1600/History+(15).JPG" height="239" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Old box sets again including the original RTB01 box set of Marines. It was that box set that got me hooked!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-stoHE3_q6_Q/Uu5wzFwKjoI/AAAAAAAAFaM/z-BnRIURVIs/s1600/History+(16).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-stoHE3_q6_Q/Uu5wzFwKjoI/AAAAAAAAFaM/z-BnRIURVIs/s1600/History+(16).JPG" height="239" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
BAM!! Front and Center on a shelf there is proof! GW can't hide the awesomeness of Squats (Space Dwarfs). Sadly the box looked to be opened unlike the others in the cases which might mean it was empty.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-GAl2ESfDZxo/Uu5wzHhtt1I/AAAAAAAAFao/x7rvWtS2yRg/s1600/History+(17).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-GAl2ESfDZxo/Uu5wzHhtt1I/AAAAAAAAFao/x7rvWtS2yRg/s1600/History+(17).JPG" height="239" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Original Devastators box set with a Squat Mole Mortar! Again more proof! I really miss the Squats, I had a huge (well short ) Squat army back in the Rogue Trader days, back before GW wrote them out of the 40k universe.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-MHNqu9hQsAM/Uu5wzQF0liI/AAAAAAAAFak/oOZiQDa7lXY/s1600/History+(18).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-MHNqu9hQsAM/Uu5wzQF0liI/AAAAAAAAFak/oOZiQDa7lXY/s1600/History+(18).JPG" height="239" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I must say it was a blast to walk along that hall and look at all the stuff I either had back in the day, still have lurking in storage somewhere, or never even heard of before. I loved the nostalgia of it all and would recommend a stop a look if you are ever in the Memphis area. Thanks for stopping by and taking a look! Take care!Davidhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17982214265905429171noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7872929153275427623.post-68222591250637116882014-01-28T19:36:00.004-07:002014-01-28T19:36:54.781-07:00Games Workshop's World of Battle: A look at the displaysGreetings once again InterWebs!!! I have one last post/look regarding Games Workshop's World of Battle and it will be a special one.....a look at their cases of remembrance! Thanks for stopping by and taking a look! Take care!Davidhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17982214265905429171noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7872929153275427623.post-47507368362756096682014-01-26T18:21:00.001-07:002014-01-26T18:21:20.191-07:00Games Workshop's World of Battle: A look at the Game TablesGreetings once again InterWebs!!!!! My recent trip to Memphis included a stop at Games Workshop's U.S. Headquarters which is called the 'World of Battle' and is a Hobby Center (retail store) and Battle Bunker (game area) along with all of the actual offices (which were off limits). The whole experience was awesome! The staff were very friendly, helpful, and not too pushy. The venue was stunning with so much to see! I have been to Warhammer World in Nottingham and our version is just as nice but has no Bugman's which is a shame. From talking to the manager of the World of Battle (James Bell, a really nice guy) it is a local zoning issue and not a GW decision. I could have really gone for a 'Fat Bloke' and a pint of Bugman's XXX.<br />
<br />
The gaming area was stunning! The ambiance was perfect and the gaming tables were sublime! I wish I could game on such lovely tables all the time! Here is a fairly large picture dump of the gaming tables that were set up at the time of my visit:<br />

<br />
The really cool thing about each of these tables was that each and every one had a 'table scenario' attached to it! You could play the special table scenario or just a regular game which was a nice touch! Here is one of the table plaques for one of the tables I played on:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-CACLYiuIZ8U/UuWxj_PWhkI/AAAAAAAAFVc/ZjP9J5R5B94/s1600/P1171019.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-CACLYiuIZ8U/UuWxj_PWhkI/AAAAAAAAFVc/ZjP9J5R5B94/s1600/P1171019.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I got a couple of games in and really enjoyed playing with a fully painted army on such lovely terrain. It was what the game is all about! The visuals were awesome....watching my little toy soldiers fight it out on real looking terrain! Perfect!<br />
<br />
Thanks for stopping by and taking a look. I will be showing off more pictures of the actual venue itself with a look at the display cabinets, the walls, the hall of remembrance, etc. Take care!Davidhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17982214265905429171noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7872929153275427623.post-58738319273208705012014-01-23T19:04:00.002-07:002014-01-23T19:04:29.773-07:00Painted! 3000 points in 30 days!Greetings once again InterWebs!!!! Every Marine army needs at least one Rhino transport so I went ahead and made two. I used a mixture of greenstuff, Chapter House Studios bits, and Blood and Skulls Industries bits on these two Rhinos. I wanted two different looking Rhinos so when I get a Diemos-pattern Rhino from Forge World I will have three different looking Rhinos. The Salamanders are known for taking basic items of wargear and putting their own spin on it (making it better). So here are my two Heresy-era Rhinos:<br />

Next up and last to show will be my Legion Glaive. I plan on going back after all the Salamanders have been built/painted and then add weathering/paint chipping to everything which will cover up any areas that need it. Thanks for stopping by! This morning I have for you my Storm Eagle assault gunship. I hear from a lot of people that this is one of the worst kits to assemble that Forge World makes but I must have gotten a 'good' one as the assembly went rather well. I did not think the model was to big to handle while painting even with a brush. I am considering getting an airbrush because I think I can paint vehicles better. Oh well, enough talk, here are the pictures....<br />
<br />
Storm Eagle Assault Gunship:<br />

The other side showing the same door detail and Legion icon:<br />

<br />
Closer look at a door:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-_JvCiMdIVfc/Ut0tqCWFReI/AAAAAAAAFMc/jsNEHa_iVcw/s1600/P1130962.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-_JvCiMdIVfc/Ut0tqCWFReI/AAAAAAAAFMc/jsNEHa_iVcw/s1600/P1130962.JPG" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Looking at the front end:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-y4FG1qPw0Mo/Ut0tqT0WAeI/AAAAAAAAFM0/f0ld3sXZWjU/s1600/P1130963.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-y4FG1qPw0Mo/Ut0tqT0WAeI/AAAAAAAAFM0/f0ld3sXZWjU/s1600/P1130963.JPG" height="400" width="300" /></a></div>
<br />
I liked painting the interior especially with a Mk IV armored pilot. I have to add the plastic canopy after the sealant has dried:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-H_P77RpFFm0/Ut0tqvtHd-I/AAAAAAAAFMo/M1JrDc7o38E/s1600/P1130964.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-H_P77RpFFm0/Ut0tqvtHd-I/AAAAAAAAFMo/M1JrDc7o38E/s1600/P1130964.JPG" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
It actually flies! Well sort of...<br />
Here she sits on her base and flight stand. The model actually balances decently although on any future Storm Eagles I will hollow out the engines to remove a fair bit of weight which should really help it sit on a small flight base.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-18lRgz6FdqY/Ut0tq_IyQzI/AAAAAAAAFMw/2ly1kv86IGI/s1600/P1130965.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-18lRgz6FdqY/Ut0tq_IyQzI/AAAAAAAAFMw/2ly1kv86IGI/s1600/P1130965.JPG" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I really like the little Teddy Bear doll that is on the base, I think it is a nice little touch on the big bases:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-wRJCD5-ZGIY/Ut0trZ727iI/AAAAAAAAFM8/e_j1zaioIKI/s1600/P1130966.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-wRJCD5-ZGIY/Ut0trZ727iI/AAAAAAAAFM8/e_j1zaioIKI/s1600/P1130966.JPG" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
That is all for this morning. I still have a couple of Rhinos and a Legion Glaive to show off from the first stage of my Heresy-era Salamanders project. I am glad the trip to GW's World of Battle is behind me so I can slow down on the Salamanders projects; painting 3000 points in less than 30 days was a bit much for me.<br />
<br />
Thanks for stopping by and taking a look! Take care!Davidhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17982214265905429171noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7872929153275427623.post-60433360743006861322014-01-17T06:33:00.003-07:002014-01-17T06:33:58.914-07:00Painted: Heresy-era Salamanders the 'Iron Dragon' Cassian Dracos Greetings once again InterWebs!!!! It is Friday morning here and Mordian 7th and I are heading to the airport soon to catch a flight to GW's World of Battle in Memphis, TN. I thought I would show off my 3rd HQ choice for the event, here is my take on 'the Fallen Master, the Dragon Revenant, First Commander of the XVIII Legion': Cassian Dracos.........<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-mNT0PchkEHA/UtksNPiz31I/AAAAAAAAFKg/c-Lq6cWmnNc/s1600/P1130929.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-mNT0PchkEHA/UtksNPiz31I/AAAAAAAAFKg/c-Lq6cWmnNc/s1600/P1130929.JPG" height="400" width="300" /></a></div>
<br />
His Banner which I am quite pleased with how it all turned out!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-BKnEvymfRYs/UtksNCyHK5I/AAAAAAAAFKk/d36ZM1SOHig/s1600/P1130930.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-BKnEvymfRYs/UtksNCyHK5I/AAAAAAAAFKk/d36ZM1SOHig/s1600/P1130930.JPG" height="400" width="300" /></a></div>
<br />
This was a very 'busy' model to paint with lots of surface details everywhere. I need to practice my flame painting a bit more, I would like to have the effect be more muted.....hmmm.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ghCAM-ce298/UtksNPf_OJI/AAAAAAAAFKo/0j9yOzsYROg/s1600/P1130931.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ghCAM-ce298/UtksNPf_OJI/AAAAAAAAFKo/0j9yOzsYROg/s1600/P1130931.JPG" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
His base and if you look closely you can see a child's little dolly that he almost stepped on.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-7ayly4CAJes/UtksOPwNmWI/AAAAAAAAFLA/4fPtXKP7MJo/s1600/P1130932.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-7ayly4CAJes/UtksOPwNmWI/AAAAAAAAFLA/4fPtXKP7MJo/s1600/P1130932.JPG" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Cassian Dracos has special weapon arms which combine a powerfist and a special Salamanders flamer unit. I went with <a href="http://puppetswar.eu/">Puppetswar</a> arms because I do not like the Forge World ones and I felt these ones looked more Heresy-era (older). The arms came with talons which I painted bone color to represent a Drake's Talons. I also added a dragon headed flamer/melta nozzle which sits in the center of the powerfist.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Hv0-jO8IYXo/UtksOaaxRMI/AAAAAAAAFK4/txmJJ7lnYT4/s1600/P1130933.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Hv0-jO8IYXo/UtksOaaxRMI/AAAAAAAAFK4/txmJJ7lnYT4/s1600/P1130933.JPG" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
The backside of his banner which shows the 'Iron Dragon' icon.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-XAzfvf2TJHc/UtksOVVeNnI/AAAAAAAAFK8/w2s69QEaNcs/s1600/P1130934.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-XAzfvf2TJHc/UtksOVVeNnI/AAAAAAAAFK8/w2s69QEaNcs/s1600/P1130934.JPG" height="400" width="300" /></a></div>
<br />
A look at one of his many trophy/fetish ropes and his base.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-IPU7Ae9XNGg/UtksPFKOs9I/AAAAAAAAFLI/KcTHt5rd654/s1600/P1130935.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-IPU7Ae9XNGg/UtksPFKOs9I/AAAAAAAAFLI/KcTHt5rd654/s1600/P1130935.JPG" height="400" width="300" /></a></div>
<br />
A look at the other shoulder and the Drake Talons over the powerfist. I think the contrast is nice between the bone and blue. He is a HQ choice and a very special character so I thought this was a decent way to add some more 'bling' to customized Dreadnought armor which happened to have been built by Vulkan himself!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-KldP5sS_UrA/UtksPZAH-yI/AAAAAAAAFLU/iQeZxjiPam4/s1600/P1130936.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-KldP5sS_UrA/UtksPZAH-yI/AAAAAAAAFLU/iQeZxjiPam4/s1600/P1130936.JPG" height="400" width="300" /></a></div>
<br />
Another look at the dragon nozzle poking out of the powerfist:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-VP4ibVnY-Eo/UtksPshtjMI/AAAAAAAAFLc/HlMsjnaluJQ/s1600/P1130937.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-VP4ibVnY-Eo/UtksPshtjMI/AAAAAAAAFLc/HlMsjnaluJQ/s1600/P1130937.JPG" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
That is all for now, gotta get it all packed up in the car for the trip to the airport. One of the nice things about living in CO is we are fairly close to all things in the US and we have an awesome airport! I will have more painting updates when I get back and a whole mess of pictures from the weekend of Horus Heresy gaming! Take care and thanks for looking!Davidhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17982214265905429171noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7872929153275427623.post-33206808903266775532014-01-16T18:14:00.002-07:002014-01-16T18:14:22.307-07:00Painted: Heresy-era Salamanders Contemptor Dreadnought Greetings once again InterWebs!!! The day was spent putting the finishing touches on the Legion Glaive and packing everything up in my BattleFoam case for the trip to GW's World of Battle in Memphis, TN for a weekend of Horus Heresy gaming. I have not had a lot of time lately to actually take pictures of everything but I have managed to take a few pictures. I would like to present to you my attempt at a Legion Contemptor Dreadnought for Legio XVIII Salamanders:<br />

I think the recovery of an abandoned project (from a friend.....Mordian 7th) turned out well. I can't wait to see what Forge World actually does for a Salamander Contemptor and I am sure I will have to get one or more! I do have pictures of my attempt at Cassian Dracos and I will try to get them posted before I jet off to Memphis. Thanks for stopping by and taking a look! Take care!Davidhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17982214265905429171noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7872929153275427623.post-11011109071069364662014-01-15T18:39:00.000-07:002014-01-15T18:39:16.377-07:00Painted: Heresy-era Salamanders Land Raider Phobos Mk IIaGreetings once again InterWebs!!! Still busy here but I am ever so close to being completely ready for the trip on Friday. Next up on my paint schedule was my attempt at a wrap-around tracked Land Raider Phobos MkII. I really enjoyed painting this model even though it was done quickly and the weathering/chipping is not done yet. I am also thinking of adding Roman Numeral XVIII decals on the larger tanks like this one. I am calling this model the 'Pride of Nocturne' and here she is:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-z-Uhz8gTyIM/Utc0wvVbKEI/AAAAAAAAFIg/CwT52d5nBjA/s1600/P1130921.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-z-Uhz8gTyIM/Utc0wvVbKEI/AAAAAAAAFIg/CwT52d5nBjA/s1600/P1130921.JPG" height="400" width="300" /></a></div>
<br />
I am not sure why this picture makes the model look brighter than it really is.<br />

<br />
I used the Chapter House Studios doors because I really do not like the Forge World doors at all:<br />

Again with a shot showing how the tracks wrap around the back end.<br />

<br />
This conversion was a struggle to pull together but I think it really works well. I am just happy that all the little issues I had with the conversion are nicely covered/hidden by the paint. I promised myself that I wouldn't make another one of these but after seeing it all painted up I am leaning towards doing another.<br />
<br />
That is all for now, I am off to finish up the last little bits of detail on the Legion Glaive. Thanks for stopping by and taking a look! Sorry it is a quick update but time is limited for me right now, the good thing is everything is painted for my trip to GW's World of Battle in Memphis. Look for a rapid series of updates with painted pictures coiming here in the next few days! Take care and thanks for stopping by and taking a look!Davidhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17982214265905429171noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7872929153275427623.post-68455976361765905112014-01-08T20:20:00.000-07:002014-01-08T20:20:09.248-07:00Painted: Heresy-era Salamanders Apothecary Greetings once again InterWebs!!! More work was done in the hobby room, paint was applied everywhere it seems! The work on my Heresy-era Salamanders continues with an Apothecary. Once again he is in Mk IV armor like everyone else in my army; I wanted to keep it a theme and thanks to Forge World I am able to come close to having everything in Mk IV armor. My Apothecary is a fairly standard build with only the addition of an auspex (on his belt) and his drake scale cloak (which all of my 'characters' wear) to set him apart from the basic model.<br />
<br />
Here he is waiting to be based:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-qMv0iYjSjAM/Us4SY3doYiI/AAAAAAAAFGA/KVimpYqgQMQ/s1600/P1010851.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-qMv0iYjSjAM/Us4SY3doYiI/AAAAAAAAFGA/KVimpYqgQMQ/s1600/P1010851.JPG" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Left shoulder waiting for the upcoming Mk IV armor Salamander shoulder pad:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-GWcEyEfGa9w/Us4SYzNd6YI/AAAAAAAAFF8/BoNejozeGw8/s1600/P1010852.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-GWcEyEfGa9w/Us4SYzNd6YI/AAAAAAAAFF8/BoNejozeGw8/s1600/P1010852.JPG" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Even the Apothecary has a fetish/trophy rope. I added these to help show the early stages of the Promethean Cult and to show the prowess of the Legionnaire.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-U9c0ia2mAGE/Us4SY1-nHPI/AAAAAAAAFGE/POjaSGLOtTY/s1600/P1010853.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-U9c0ia2mAGE/Us4SY1-nHPI/AAAAAAAAFGE/POjaSGLOtTY/s1600/P1010853.JPG" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I kept the cowl on his drake scale cloak intact because I liked the way it raised up behind his helmet:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-olhwONbtReA/Us4SZ8tTJUI/AAAAAAAAFGM/Jge_gemDT1k/s1600/P1010854.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-olhwONbtReA/Us4SZ8tTJUI/AAAAAAAAFGM/Jge_gemDT1k/s1600/P1010854.JPG" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
A closer look at his tabard and the auspex on his belt:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-84SCM4MaWYI/Us4SZ__fjvI/AAAAAAAAFGU/oddxPQ8Ea10/s1600/P1010855.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-84SCM4MaWYI/Us4SZ__fjvI/AAAAAAAAFGU/oddxPQ8Ea10/s1600/P1010855.JPG" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
The model is supposed to be stepping up on something it seems so I will make sure to have him stepping up on something when he gets based this weekend. I thought about using a cloth banner I have for him but the cloak and the backpack apparatus all seem to interfere with it.<br />
<br />
That is all for now, next up will be my Legion Terminators. Thanks for stopping by and taking a look! Take care!Davidhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17982214265905429171noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7872929153275427623.post-46161200844042980362014-01-06T20:28:00.001-07:002014-01-06T20:28:32.491-07:00Painted Heresy-era Salamanders: Librarian and Chapter SerfGreetings once again InterWebs!!! It seems I am on fire with the updates recently! Well all I can say is that I have been painting a fair bit recently (every day for a bit since Xmas) and I thought I would share with you all. Paint....Paint.....Paint.....it is everywhere these days and all I can think about! I think my fingers are started to get a black-green tint to them. The recent push to get 3000 points painted by the 16th leads me to show you my Salamanders Librarian and his Chapter Serf Shield Bearer.<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Librarian:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-skjExeaVyc8/UstuFkR_THI/AAAAAAAAFD4/dHC45XrAljA/s1600/P1010864.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-skjExeaVyc8/UstuFkR_THI/AAAAAAAAFD4/dHC45XrAljA/s1600/P1010864.JPG" height="400" width="300" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Glowing runes of power on his leg armor:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-jchXyM46yiQ/UstuRx1-H5I/AAAAAAAAFEA/AabYQcypaaA/s1600/P1010858.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-jchXyM46yiQ/UstuRx1-H5I/AAAAAAAAFEA/AabYQcypaaA/s1600/P1010858.JPG" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Inferno Pistol. I did not want to say it was in his holster, something as nasty as an inferno pistol should be modeled and shown to your opponent (in my opinion):<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-W1zE3BMHDRA/UstuR0sIL9I/AAAAAAAAFEI/KM8qUPS94Sc/s1600/P1010859.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-W1zE3BMHDRA/UstuR0sIL9I/AAAAAAAAFEI/KM8qUPS94Sc/s1600/P1010859.JPG" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Banner pole topper which I am pleased with how it all turned out. I really like how it is looking out over the soon to be added banner.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-pZZFjZ2BthM/UstuSKJnMSI/AAAAAAAAFEE/Rkju6XavQMQ/s1600/P1010860.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-pZZFjZ2BthM/UstuSKJnMSI/AAAAAAAAFEE/Rkju6XavQMQ/s1600/P1010860.JPG" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I use red drake scale cloaks for the general troopers but I thought it would be a nice touch to have a different color for the characters; I went with a blue drake skin for the Librarian which also helps show that he different then the rest.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-wj-3oUNyR5k/UstuSvxtK9I/AAAAAAAAFEM/Qm8AUCExOcI/s1600/P1010861.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-wj-3oUNyR5k/UstuSvxtK9I/AAAAAAAAFEM/Qm8AUCExOcI/s1600/P1010861.JPG" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Force axe (missing some paint it seems.....doh!), Librarian shoulder pad, and fetish ropes!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-idaMGYGLQFU/UstuS_TTnOI/AAAAAAAAFEo/1yzCbJUXhtg/s1600/P1010862.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-idaMGYGLQFU/UstuS_TTnOI/AAAAAAAAFEo/1yzCbJUXhtg/s1600/P1010862.JPG" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
The Librarian is also equipped with a Storm Shield but I really didn't want him holding it which left hanging on his back which was not going to happen (cloak and banner pole). I decided that I would go with a native of Nocturne (Chapter Serf) who happens to follow the Librarian unto the anvil. I will always laugh at the horror this little guy will get exposed to during his gaming career while following the Librarian. <br />
<br />
Shield Bearer Chapter Serf with native Nocturne skin tone as opposed to the Onyx/Midnight skin tone of the Legionaries:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ywhBCuwRZiQ/UstuTRW9ULI/AAAAAAAAFEg/g-VJVCu8D-8/s1600/P1010865.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ywhBCuwRZiQ/UstuTRW9ULI/AAAAAAAAFEg/g-VJVCu8D-8/s1600/P1010865.JPG" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-FKvmIGJh6h4/UstuUzH_FBI/AAAAAAAAFEw/OXRdfMm-l_w/s1600/P1010867.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-FKvmIGJh6h4/UstuUzH_FBI/AAAAAAAAFEw/OXRdfMm-l_w/s1600/P1010867.JPG" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Librarian's Storm Shield:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-HaaMtZykLNI/UstuVebnf9I/AAAAAAAAFFM/27NWUXEzyds/s1600/P1010869.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-HaaMtZykLNI/UstuVebnf9I/AAAAAAAAFFM/27NWUXEzyds/s1600/P1010869.JPG" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Scale shot of the duo which I think shows the height difference between a normal human and a post-human Space Marine:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-sdWiRUwbuio/UstuV_qRSRI/AAAAAAAAFFI/t7FPYyLUUmo/s1600/P1010870.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-sdWiRUwbuio/UstuV_qRSRI/AAAAAAAAFFI/t7FPYyLUUmo/s1600/P1010870.JPG" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Well, that was a nice enough little break from the painting. I am going to try and get some of this ink of my fingers before going back to the paint desk. I am getting closer by the day to having it all painted, now if the weather would warm up enough so I can seal these guys that would be awesome! Thanks for stopping by and taking a look! Take care!</div>

The painting rush continues with late night sessions after work and over the weekend. As the Leader of my army the Praetor is armed with a master-crafted Thunder Hammer, Storm Shield, Mantle of the Elder Drake (giving him Eternal Warrior), and a bolt pistol. I have a lovely cloth banner that I will be using on him once he gets based and sealed.<br />
<br />
Here is my attempt at a Legio XVIII Praetor:<br />

Take care!Davidhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17982214265905429171noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7872929153275427623.post-62741564005102190592014-01-04T06:36:00.000-07:002014-01-04T06:36:06.353-07:00Painted Heresy-era Salamanders: Tactical Support SquadGreetings once again InterWebs!!!! Well the mad dash to get everything painted up is continuing along at a frantic pace and this morning I would like to present to you my Tactical Support Squad which are armed with meltaguns.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-uCNHYWk94Zw/UsgJIsH_5hI/AAAAAAAAFBM/av3n1kPetVE/s1600/P1010842.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-uCNHYWk94Zw/UsgJIsH_5hI/AAAAAAAAFBM/av3n1kPetVE/s400/P1010842.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-jELm5f3E-6Q/UsgJIm3amoI/AAAAAAAAFBI/LGX9TG45qfg/s1600/P1010843.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-jELm5f3E-6Q/UsgJIm3amoI/AAAAAAAAFBI/LGX9TG45qfg/s400/P1010843.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I used all sorts of bits and greenstuff to make my Salamanders look 'feral', they are from a deathworld after all. I also wanted to show that the Wolves of Fenris (which is not a deathworld if I remember correctly) are not the only ones who can look feral and still be awesome! Here are some closer looks at the Sergeant:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-t0UzYB5fafs/UsgJIm-Vi8I/AAAAAAAAFBQ/-CcH8vW3i6s/s1600/P1010844.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-t0UzYB5fafs/UsgJIm-Vi8I/AAAAAAAAFBQ/-CcH8vW3i6s/s400/P1010844.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
My Sergeants all have helmet crests but I wanted something a little different for his helmet:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-8q39Mf0FXPY/UsgJL_U7EWI/AAAAAAAAFBo/Rtg1aezFOKU/s1600/P1010845.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-8q39Mf0FXPY/UsgJL_U7EWI/AAAAAAAAFBo/Rtg1aezFOKU/s400/P1010845.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
He certainly has hunted down and killed his fair share of large reptiles! I can only imagine the rattle he makes with all the bone trophies:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-xDxz-4qiEvs/UsgJJ-Cr7AI/AAAAAAAAFBk/A6A969JPvLM/s1600/P1010846.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-xDxz-4qiEvs/UsgJJ-Cr7AI/AAAAAAAAFBk/A6A969JPvLM/s400/P1010846.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I think the bionic arm is a nice subtle touch and works well with the darker heresy-era green armor:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-AE-A8bgvlys/UsgJKaDXWDI/AAAAAAAAFBg/W9r_c6JeFqY/s1600/P1010847.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-AE-A8bgvlys/UsgJKaDXWDI/AAAAAAAAFBg/W9r_c6JeFqY/s400/P1010847.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Now for the other troopers is the squad. The squad is currently at 5-man but I am expand it to 10-man at some point in the future. I think I might have gone a little overboard with the fetish stuff on these guys but I like it, proves they are some heavy hitters:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Ef8ZBliCOmU/UsgJOZ7I-lI/AAAAAAAAFCA/7R4QClPofxI/s1600/P1010848.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Ef8ZBliCOmU/UsgJOZ7I-lI/AAAAAAAAFCA/7R4QClPofxI/s400/P1010848.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Y0w7wesBoo8/UsgJMXvD4pI/AAAAAAAAFBw/BBnNWzxJHvM/s1600/P1010849.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Y0w7wesBoo8/UsgJMXvD4pI/AAAAAAAAFBw/BBnNWzxJHvM/s400/P1010849.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-aR_ytohq3P4/UsgJPRJh0mI/AAAAAAAAFCE/s6Ps3EDViSU/s1600/P1010850.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-aR_ytohq3P4/UsgJPRJh0mI/AAAAAAAAFCE/s6Ps3EDViSU/s400/P1010850.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The meltaguns came from <a href="http://www.spellcrow.com/">SpellCrow</a> and they are OK, I think they are a little big and bulky and actually required some shaving and cutting on the backside to get them to line up with the hand correctly. If and when I expand this unit to 10-men I will be making my own Salamander meltaguns.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
That is it for now, I am going to scurry back into the man cave and resume my painting. Next up will be my HQ choices including my Praetor. Thanks for stopping by and taking a look! Take care!</div>
