Painted: Mk IV Salamanders Shoulder Pads

Greetings once again InterWebs!!!! The health struggles continue but I did manage to get some painting in. Having a bunch of time off due to illness does allow me to get small patches of painting done. Here is the latest coming off the painting desk: Mk IV Salamander Shoulder Pads.

While they are painted I am not able to seal them due to the weather, Spring time in Colorado is a total mixture of snow, rain, and sun with today being snow. These 47 shoulder pads finish up my Stage 1 Horus Heresy Salamanders build. Here are some other shots of the Mk IV shoulder pads.

Apothecary:

Librarian:

Meltagun tactical support squad:

40 tactical marine pads all looking like this:

With the first part of my Heresy-era Salamanders all done and Forge World still not coming out with anything for the Salamanders it is time to look and see what I can throw together for the Salamanders next. I know I have a 5-man Honor Squad, a 10-man Flamer tactical support squad, a 5-man Plasmagun tactical support squad, a Heresy-era Predator, a Vindicator with laser destroyer array (Sabre Tank Hunter), and a Falchion (Shadow Sword) that will be HEAVILY converted all waiting for my attention. I might even throw together a Legion Champion miniature if I can find a Paragon Blade I like.

Well thanks for stopping by and taking a look! Take care!

Painted: Urtzi Malevolus the Despoiler of Mars

Greetings once again InterWebs!!!! It has been a really tough few days for me health-wise and in between doctors visits and being laid out on the bed I did manage to stitch together enough paint time to finish Urtzi Malevolus. I had to ask a friend if he looked 'correct' because I don't trust my eyes so much at this point. Well enough rambling, here is the Despoiler of Mars!

I love the three glowing eyes, just like the picture from GW.

So many mechandenrites:

Backside view showing mostly the tech base:

A look at the power generator for the three large mechandenrites:

So many gears and moving parts that are mere picometers from his hood. I think he has an entire subroutine devoted to keeping his hood out of the moving parts behind him.

This is going to be a challenge to pack and move for gaming use. He really has a large 'footprint'.

I must say I really enjoyed painting this guy up even though I felt so ill during the process. I may just have to do some more Dark Mechanicus in the future. For now the Despoiler of Mars will await further reinforcements while I contemplate building him the Kaban Machine.

Thanks for stopping by and taking a look! Take care! Comments are always more than welcome! I would love to hear your thoughts about good old Urtzi Malevolus! I will leave you all with the picture that inspired this build:

Painted: Apocalypse Survivors from Wargames Factory

Greetings once again InterWebs!!! It has been a little while since my last post so I thought I would share with you all what I have been up to lately. I have some friends that are casual gamers but they do really love their post-apocalyptic and zombie survivor games, so as a gift to them for being such awesome people I painted up the newish Apocalypse Survivors from Wargame Factory. I picked up one box of the women and one box of the men which came to a total of 60 miniatures for the low cost of $36.00 (GenCon special), quite the deal I must say! The boxes come with 3 identical sprues of models and a 4th sprue of optional arm/weapon setups for some of the miniatures and a whole mess of guns and equipment options.

Here is the first set of miniatures which will be headed to West Virginia:

Here is the second set of miniatures which will be headed to Ohio:

The third set of miniatures which will probably be staying here in Colorado:

These miniatures were a lot of fun to paint and I am sure they will bring joy to their new owners (at least I hope!). There was a fair bit of left over bits (guns, pouches, etc.) that were not used with this project but will be used in a future project. For under $25.00 for a box of 30 miniatures (and a ton of bits) I would call this set a steal! I did not stress on making the 3 sets of miniatures to different because I knew they were going to different homes and it helped the painting process. My personal favorite has to be the little girl in her pink dress, white hair ribbon, and UZI!

Thanks for stopping by and taking a look! Now that this little gift project is done I can get back to building and painting Heresy-era Salamanders and collecting bits/models for my Heresy-era Iron Warriors. Take care!

That was the last model built and painted for the first stage of my Horus Heresy Salamanders army. I still have several things to build and paint in stage 2 but that is still a little ways off. Thanks for stopping by and taking a look! Take care!
