Painted: Blood Angel Jump Chaplain

Greetings once again InterWebs!!! It has been a bit snowy here lately which means that I had a little more time than normal to spend in the hobby room. While the weather is not suitable for sealing miniatures at the moment I managed to finish off the Blood Angel Jump Chaplain named Corbalin.

I attempted to sculpt a bit of a blood drop on his shoulder pad (he is a Blood Angel after all):

All of Corbalin's tabards are inscribed front and back with his Litanies of Hate:

I think he turned fairly well and I do enjoy using him to lead my Blood Angel jump troops. I find I use him and a Librarian for my HQ choices but then again I am not a tournament player at all. In between the various colors used on Corbalin here I also managed to knock out some of the same colors on the remaining 4 Blood Angel characters (Dante, Mephiston, Corbulo, and Tycho). That is all for now although while I was digging through my 'closet of holding' looking for some miniatures for a friend I ran across a Blood Angels Furioso Dreadnought that I had put together way back when Assault on Black Reach had just come out. I have since pulled the Furioso Dreadnought out and started to bring the botched start of a paint job in-line with my current rendition of Blood Angel Red; more on that whole process tomorrow. It is looking like the snow has let up for the moment but the cold still lingers which means more hobby time is possible tomorrow.

PiP: Blood Angel Jump Chaplain Corbalin

Greetings once again InterWebs!!! I had a little bit of time this weekend to work on the Blood Angel Headquarter choices, this time it was my jump Chaplain named Corbalin. I am a huge fan of the Chaplains in 40k both fluff-wise and in the actual games. I do struggle with painting and highlighting Black armor so here are my attempts:

First attempt at highlighting black:

I was not happy with this attempt, it was to subtle for my taste. I personally am not a huge fan of hard edge highlighting (especially on black) but I thought this attempt needed a little something more.

At this point I was fairly happy with the highlighting now to knock the blue down a bit, time to make up a nice black ink glaze. Here is Chaplain Corbalin all 'blacked out':

I was happy with the black armor at this point but you can never really tell until you put some other colors around to help set off the large areas of base armor color. I really wanted to see what he would look like with some additional colors on him:

Blood Angel Librarians: Finished

Greetings once again InterWebs!!! I had a little free time which I managed to use up in the hobby room by finishing up the three Blood Angel Librarians that I use (not all at once) in my 4th Company Blood Angels army. You can see the paint in process (PiP) here if you would like to see the painting process. The three Librarians are a mixture of types including: Terminator Librarian (from the Space Hulk boardgame), jump pack equipped Librarian, and a 'foot-slogging' Death Watch Librarian; this should give me plenty of options to choose from when it comes time to use one in a game. My good friend Mordian 7th  likes to take pictures of his miniatures using some terrain to help 'set up' the picture of the miniature so I decided to give it a try:

 I do like the pictures with the miniatures in the building, now the only thing I would like to see is a 'background' image outside the windows.....hmmmm; sounds like something I will have to look into. Blood Angel Librarium: PiP

Greetings once again InterWebs!!! It has been a snowy couple of days lately (with more to come it seems) so I had a little time today to step into the hobby room and sit at the painting desk. I decided to work on the three Blood Angel Librarians waiting for me. I have three Librarians: 1 in power armor and jump pack, 1 in Terminator armor (from the Space Hulk boardgame), and 1 in power armor (done up as a Death Watch Librarian).
